The Poetry Australia Foundation is a non-profit-making, community based organisation established to promote the writing, publishing and enjoyment of poetry in all its forms. The Foundation's activities include the publication of Blue Dog: Australian Poetry, the publication of a Catalogue featuring recent poetry publications, the development of a poetry library and the encouragement of poetry in schools through our participation in the Taronga Foundation Poetry Prize and the Education Sub-committee. The Poetry Australia Foundation supports the work of Five Islands Press, and, in return, any profits earned by Five Islands Press will be returned to the Foundation. Any donations made to the Poetry Australia Foundation above $2.00 are tax-deductible.

Membership of the Poetry Australia Foundation entitles you to:

  • a subscription of two copies per year of our magazine Blue Dog: Australian Poetry

  • receive a catalogue listing recent poetry publications by all participating publishers

  • purchase all Five Islands Press books at a 25% reduction from the Recommended Retail Price

  • receive four Newsletters per year

  • participate in on-line workshops

  • participate in all other workshops, including the nine-day Wollongong Poetry Workshop in January, at a discount of 10% from the advertised price

  • have an assessment of your poetry made at the rate of $20.00 for 20 poems or part thereof
